Read it and weep ladies, because I sure did. That's a positive test...only it's the wrong kind of pee stick.
After some rather suspicious symptoms, I have just tested positive for blood cells in my urine, which means that the monster known as UTI has descended upon me after a 14-month reprieve during which I thought it had gone away forever.
I'll be frank - for me, this is worse than a BFN because I'm such a wimp when it comes to this kind of pain. (And yet, I think I can do labor without meds. I so kid myself.) I had a minor meltdown with Mr. Stick earlier today over it because I can't bear the thought of this thing dragging out for months like it did last time.
At least the antibiotics have started to kick in, and I no longer feel like there's broken glass in my nether regions. (Sorry, too descriptive?) I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that this thing will go away and stay away.
My acupuncturist wants me to get tested for ureaplasma/mycoplasma to see if maybe it's causing both the UTI and infertility. If this is the case, Dr. G. gets a big strike for not having tested me for it all in the first place, especially since he rubs elbows with my urologist. Hopefully, I'll get some answers, but right now, permanent relief from this beast is higher on the priority list.
On the bright side, we head out for California on Saturday, which is why I've been kind of absent from the blogosphere. Wrapping things up, packing, and all that. Once we're settled in, I promise to be more in touch and will pepper all your blogs with all the love and wit you can possibly bear.

Oh gosh I feel you on the UTI. Those are awful. I'm sorry you're feeling that right now. But I think your acupuncturist may be on to something and I hope you are able to get tested for it.
ReplyDeleteUTIs SUCK! I haven't had one in years, but they are such nasty little bitches. I would be curled up in a ball crying, too (and yet, I also think I can do drug free childbirth).
ReplyDeleteAs frustrating as it would be to learn there is a link between the UTIs and IF that could have been detected before, it would also be good just to know about it and correct it, right? I don't know what to hope for you right now. I hope you can drink lots of cranberry juice and kick this thing soon.
Ick to UTIs. :(
ReplyDeleteMycoplasma/ureaplasma is what I tested positive for in April. I got to take fun antibiotics that gave me sunburns lol.
Thank goodness the antibiotics for your UTI set in. I had one major one about eight years ago and I STILL remember the pain it caused. That crap's no fun.
HEEEEEEEEEEEELL! So sorry! I really feel for you on this one...But the prospect of maybe fixing something...that sounds like a ray of weak sunshine!
ReplyDeleteI hope it's a fun transition to CA! And that you'll be asymptomatic by then. I can't imagine travel with a UTI.
I'm SO sorry:( Definitely not the positive you should be getting. And after what you've already gone through on the UTI front you deserved a far bigger break than this. I'm glad the antibiotics are kicking in. Glass in one's nether regions = not very nice at all. But I hope California is great.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, no!!! That's awful. I'm glad the meds are kicking in, and hopefully you'll get some relief.
ReplyDeleteIsn't packing a wonderful way to make time fly? I very much enjoyed moving all our stuff over the last couple of weeks. Now I am back to twiddling my thumbs again...
I am so excited for you to get to spend the summer in SF! How awesome!
So sorry you have another UTI. I think it's great you are getting the the urea/mycoplasma testing, but yes, big black mark for thinking of this before, Dr G.
ReplyDeleteHope it clears up soon and you have a wonderful transition to CA.
I am so sorry you have to deal with a UTI. I wouldn't wish those on anybody. I am glad to hear your are starting to feel a little better. Good luck on your move to Cali.
